Have you ever heard the term Mesmerized? It came from  Frank A. Mesmer. A German physician 1734-1815. Google it for more history.

Who coined the term Hypnosis? It was James Braid 1796-1860, a Scottish born physician who coined the term

Who was the first person to use Hypnosis for anesthesia?


It was Dr. James Esdaile April 4th, 1845  (Scottish)

for a man  afflicted with double hydrocele  he was successful in rendering the person analgesic, and at once began to experiment with hypnotism both as a means of producing analgesia in surgical cases, and as a method of treatment for medical cases. The term hypnotism had not yet been used. The term used at the time was mesmerized.

What does the number 079.157.010. stands for?
 
The U.S. (Department of Labor) Directory of Occupational Titles (D.O.T. 079.157.010) supplies the following definition:
 

"Hypnotherapist – Induces hypnotic state in client to increase motivation or alter behavior pattern through hypnosis. Consults with client to determine the nature of problem. Prepares client to enter hypnotic states by explaining how hypnosis works and what client will experience. Tests subject to determine degrees of physical and emotional suggestibility. Induces hypnotic state in client using individualized methods and techniques of hypnosis based on interpretation of test results and analysis of client's problem. May train client in self-hypnosis conditioning
